Tour-Ed Mine & Museum sits on 13 beautiful acres in Tarentum, PA. Beyond the underground mine tour and museum, the grounds feature a collection of historical attractions, a picnic pavilion, a train ride, and plenty of space for families and groups to explore.
An authentic Pittsburgh & Shawmut Railroad Caboose sits on the grounds — a piece of Western Pennsylvania railroad history. Climb aboard and see where the train crew once rode at the end of coal and freight trains.
Step back to the earliest days of Western Pennsylvania settlement. This authentic 1785 log home gives visitors a glimpse into frontier life — decades before the coal industry would transform the region.
Put on your authentic Tour-Ed Mine hard-hat and climb into a real coal mine mantrip for a ½ mile journey into a mining experience you’ll never forget.
Thousands of authentic, historical pieces on display, including miners’ equipment, tools, general store items, and other unusual and unique antiques.
The wagon barn houses an early 1900s horse-drawn farm wagon and a beautifully crafted wooden sleigh. Both are on display and represent the agricultural roots of the Alle-Kiski Valley before industrialization.
Our souvenir shop has really "Coal" stuff for purchase. Unique gifts and souvenirs for any age, candy, drinks, novelties, and snacks. Located inside the museum building — make sure you stop in before you leave.
The 13-acre Ira Wood Park is named in dedication to Tour-Ed Mine's founder. The covered picnic pavilion can be reserved for birthday parties, school field trips, and groups to establish a home base and enjoy lunch. Local bands perform on the Ira Wood Stage Pavilion located on the edge of the park.
